According to Wikipedia, "Scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side." In other words, the spine of an individual with scoliosis may have a "S" or a "C" shape than a straight line. If not taken care of early, it can lead to diminishing lung capacity or other hazardous conditions.
Why bring this subject up? Because I was diagnosed with it during my 8th grade year. I was thirteen when I was fitted into my back brace and didn't get out of it until May of my junior year of high school. I had to wear it for 23 hours a day; leaving one hour for bathing. Needless to say I was not able to participate in any of my school's extracurricular activities. So, I became an outcast.
In any event, it still gives me nightmares just thinking about those days. Now I'm 39 and, to a certain extent, am thankful for wearing that brace. On the other hand, I'm appalled because I still am limited to what I can do. Is old age setting in?
First, 39 is not old. You're at a ripe age to start preparing to live out all of your dreams. Second, having a condition that limits your ability to do certain things can encourage you to become better at other things:)
