Turning Thirteen

My daughter will be turning thirteen on October 21st.  Since she'll be considered a "teenager", I've decided to throw her a slumber party; but I'm not sure what kind of activities she and her friends would like to do.  She wants me to rent an inflatable bouncy house; but I think that is too childish.  So I sat and thought about when I turned thirteen and what my friends and I did.  We played games like: Light-as-a-feather, Stiff-as-a-board; Truth or Dare; and Charades.....but that was back in the early 80's.  Now-a-days, teenagers have a lot more stuff to choose from.  So my question for this week is:  What did you do for your thirteenth birthday?

  1. I had a swimming party at my house. Of course, my birthday is in May. I think that if she asked for a bouncy house, then she should have one. I imagine that she knows what she wants, and she may be wanting to jump in one before she is really too old. That's my two cents, sounds fun to me.

  2. My two cents is lies in what's to come. I hadn't really started wearing make-up and taking time to fix my hair everyday. Maybe you could get her some non-child like make-up and hair stuff for them to experiment with. Example, make-up with natural colors and more mature hair supplies. When it came time for me to use stuff like that, I didn't have any girl friends to help me and felt wierd. I think it would be fun for them to experiment with it together.

  4. I don't remember 13 but my sister is 16 now and I know that on her 13th birthday party she just wanted a slumber party with pizza, soda, lots of other junk food, movies, makeup, and to be left alone! Let them stay up late partying!
